For a Gilbert home, check the Town’s shed rules before adding a structure, request a water-efficiency checkup if use rises, look up the bulk-pickup zone before setting items out, and use current Riparian Preserve access details for a local outing.

Does a Gilbert storage shed need a building permit?
Gilbert says a storage shed of 200 square feet or more requires a building permit; a permit is also needed if the shed has utilities or is attached to the home or another structure. Other zoning and setback rules can still apply to smaller sheds. Confirm the parcel, dimensions and design with Development Services before ordering materials.
Next step: Take the shed dimensions and site sketch to Gilbert Development Services before building.
Can Gilbert help find the cause of a high water bill?
Gilbert offers free residential Water Efficiency Checkups that can look at water use and household or irrigation issues. Request the checkup through the Town and review its privacy notice: customer contact and consumption history may be shared with the Town’s consultant. Confirm service eligibility for the address before assuming the visit is available.
Next step: Review the Town’s checkup and privacy details, then request help for the exact service address.
Gilbert schedules bulk-trash collection by pickup zone on an approximately five-week cycle, with holiday exceptions. The Town gives a setout window beginning the Saturday before collection week and a Monday morning deadline. Check the zone and current accepted-item rules before making a pile; the regular trash schedule does not determine the bulk week.
Next step: Look up your bulk-pickup zone and the current setout instructions before placing items outside.
What should I know before visiting the Riparian Preserve?
Gilbert’s Riparian Preserve at Water Ranch has walking trails, wildlife habitat and a floating boardwalk. Its posted visitor guidance gives dawn-to-dusk trail access; check the current page before going because conditions and facilities may change. Observatory programs require their own dated details and should not be inferred from the presence of an observatory.
Next step: Read the Town’s visitor details, choose a short trail, and check any program separately.
Review trail access and visitor information before leaving.
